The IAWM seeks to build a stronger communication network among women composers and between women in music organizations through:
- publication of the IAWM Journal
- advertisement of projects and achievements of various women-in-music organizations
- establishment of the IAWM listserv (Oct. 1993)
- establishment of the IAWM web site (Dec. 1994)
