"A Letter to Members of American Women Composers, Inc.,"

as published in the IAWM Journal, June 1994, pp. 42.

Dear Colleague:

It is my pleasure to extend cordial greetings to you from the pages of the ILWC journal.
This complimentary copy is being sent to you both as a gesture of goodwill from a sister organization, and as the first stage in an exciting new series of developments.
As most of you know, we have been working towards uniting AWC and ILWC into a single, strong entity called the "International Alliance for Women in Music"; On the following page, you will find a progress report on preparations for the merger.
If everything stays on course as envisioned, you will be receiving copies of the Journal (under the IAWM imprint) three times per year-June, October and February. An excellent source of information about members' activities, opportunities, articles and reviews, it will function as the main publication of the new organization. The AWC News/Forum will reappear, under a new title, as a yearly publication of juried academic articles and will function as a leading repository of critical feminist scholarship.
To those of you who have already shared with me your thoughts about the proposed merger, many thanks for your active and enthusiastic responses. To those of you who would like to become involved in shaping the future, I extend an open invitation and welcome: your energies, talents, suggestions and contributions are needed and appreciated.
With best regards,
Stefania de Kenessey, President, AWC Inc.
